Yew Tee Division

Dear Residents & Friends of Yew Tee,

Warm Greetings.

Our team welcomes you to this microsite dedicated to Yew Tee. We are one of the four divisions within Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC. At Yew Tee, we have our unique character whilst still being part of the larger community.

Yew Tee has been around for some time, taking its name from a village so named because oil was stored here during WWII. Then, it was a bustling village housing a few hundred families, mostly small-time farmers who grew vegetables and reared ducks and chickens.

Today, Yew Tee remains bustling and is transforming itself. We have many exciting developments in the short and long term.

Exclusive to the district will be Cycling Path @ Yew Tee, an upcoming cycling network created to provide more inclusive spaces for users. ”Silver Zones” to cater to our seniors and the wider community are in the pipeline. Further ahead, Yew Tee will welcome the next-generation interchange Sungei Kadut MRT in the mid 2030s.

These are some of the many new developments, creating an exciting future for Yew Tee. As we learn to live with the new normal going forward, let us continue to embrace the values of My Home, Heart & Hope here at Yew Tee.

Yew Tee Initiatives

Access & Connectivity

Yew Tee will welcome the next-generation interchange Sungei Kadut MRT in the mid 2030s and it will connect residents to the Downtown Line (DTL) via a track extension to Bukit Panjang MRT station. This will slice off 30 minutes in travel time for residents making trips into downtown Singapore.

Then, the Pang Sua Park Connector remains a vital artery. Starting from Zhenghua Park, the Pang Sua Park Connector runs along Bukit Panjang and joins Bukit Panjang Park along the way. Pang Sua Park Connector forms part of the Western Adventure Loop, linking various park connectors, parks and nature reserves.

Exclusive to the district will be Cycling Path @ Yew Tee, an upcoming cycling network in Choa Chu Kang-Yew Tee Town created to provide a more inclusive space for users.

Silver Zone

The “Silver Zone Scheme” will involve implementing a series of traffic-calming measures and senior-friendly road safety features at areas with a high proportion of senior residents, and where there have been past accidents involving seniors.

These Silver Zones will be located within proximity to basic amenities such as food courts and medical centres to allow seniors easier and safer access to these facilities. The Land Transport Authority has been consulting local communities and will take into account the needs of all stakeholders, including motorists and seniors, in deciding on the location and design of the Silver Zones. In locations where Silver Zones have been implemented, the number of road accidents involving senior pedestrians has dropped by about 80%. Watch out for updates here!

Active Lifestyle

Yew Tee has a special eye to support seniors to age gracefully through schemes such as Community Physical Activity Programme (CPAP) by Health Promotion Board. Seniors can also learn to be digitally savvy through the Seniors Go Digital sessions by IMDA.

There’s the Majulah Walk & Run that brings residents together on National Day for a good morning exercise. Similarly, there is a May Day Walk with the same purpose in promoting healthy lifestyle among residents.

Other healthy activities include, bowling tournaments, football clinics and cycling events. Several Residents Committees have formed their Briskwalk Club Interest Groups in collaboration with the North West CDC Brisk Walk Club initiative. Check them out!

The Road To Excellence

Yew Tee cares about the future of its young, especially families who need the extra help. the Yew Tee CCC CDWF Bursary in an on-going annual programme that supports the needy and the under privileged in the community. This complements the Youth Think @ Yew Tee – Free Tuition Programme, catered to assist needy students in the constituency and facilitated by volunteer teachers.

Working closely with community partners in Yew Tee such as the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) and Fei Yue Community Services (FYCS), Yew Tee is able to engage and identify those in need and look to better assist and aid these individuals or families in our community.

Caring For Our Community

At Yew Tee, we care by:

Project Sunshine – Our Neighbourhood Committees (NC) have extensive experience working on Project Sunshine where donations are collected by the NC and dispensed to a selected charity for its beneficiaries.

Porridge Distribution (Hari Raya) – This distribution effort takes place every year where porridge is distributed to Yew Tee residents to commemorate the breaking of fast. Being an open event for everyone in the community, it gives an opportunity to those in need of a hot meal to receive one during that time.

Happy Kopitiam – This is a series of virtual events on Facebook Live which was created to cater to residents during these trying times. The series has evolved over time from one of not only entertainment but to also be a bridge to engage and share information with our residents.

  • Yew Tee Day is about celebrating community. It brings residents together through community involvement, ensuring everyone plays a part, whilst inculcating the values of caring for the needy. In recent years, the emphasis was on the community’s need to care for the environment and recycling. A “Recyclables” collection drive was initiated to collaborate with community partners National Environment Agency (NEA), Tzu Chi Singapore, Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Council and Food Bank Singapore, who helped make the event a successful one.
  • The Recycle @ North West initiative complements the collection drive. It takes place in collaboration with North West CDC as Yew Tee residents work with Tzu Chi to organise a monthly Recyclables collection point every third Sunday of the month at the void deck of Blk 621. Residents are welcome to deposit their recyclables to do their part to conserve the environment.
  • The Big Spring Clean is another big event that Yew Tee is proud of – an annual event where residents, community partners and grassroots leaders come forth together to get our hands dirty as we spread the message of “Clean and Green” and learning to care for the environment. Through this annual event, participants get a better understanding of the state of cleanliness of their residences and also, importance of keeping the estate clean.

Yew Tee – The Future

Whether residents need to visit a polyclinic for outpatient treatment or grab food at a hawker centre, the upcoming Yew Tee Integrated Development will be the one-stop place for all your needs. To be located at the Hard Court @ Yew Tee Close, the new development is expected to come alive in 2026.

There are plans for two-room flexi flats for seniors, a community club facility, a polyclinic and a kidney dialysis centre co-located with a hawker centre within the constituency.
